Print and distribution union the
GPMU is stepping up its bid for a ground-breaking recognition deal at new
economy firm Amazon.
An increasing number
of employees are handing in completed union application forms to GPMU officials
at the huge Marston Gate distribution centre near the M1 in Bedfordshire.
"We shall try to
arrange for Acas to become involved, leading to a voluntary agreement,"
said union organiser Peter Lockhart. "But we are well over the 10 per cent
mark and would seriously consider a ballot."
