Professor suspended for rejecting Israeli student

Oxford
University has suspended one of its professors for refusing to accept an
Israeli student’s application over the country’s treatment of Palestinians.

Professor
Andrew Wilkie, a doctor of pathology at the university, said that there was ‘no
way’ he could accept Amit Duvshani because he had served in the Israeli army.

A
disciplinary body suspended the professor and also ordered that he undergo
training in equal opportunities.

Sir
Colin Lucas, Oxford University’s vice-chancellor, said: "This ruling reflects
that there can be no place for discrimination within the University of
Oxford."
