Psychometric test tool is 21 years old

Psychometric testing has come of age, as the original testing tool reaches its 21st birthday.

The Occupational Personality Questionnaire started the craze of workplace personality testing which has been hailed as an integral part of recruitment by some but derided as invasive and unscientific by others.

SHL, the company that launched the product, said the most significant change in the testing over the past two decades was the move online.

The use of online assessment was growing at 35% year on year, the company said.
