The
ability to work flexible hours is the most popular benefit offered to staff in
the public sector, it has been revealed.
Employees
also chose to take jobs in the sector because the working environment was
perceived to be more relaxed and informal.
Research
by recruitment firm Parker Bridge also found that public sector staff believed
their employers were less ageist, more family-friendly and provided more
development than private firms.

Workers
were also choosing the sector because they felt their work added genuine value
to society.
