Public service staff to protest at Westminster over low pay

Public service workers are to protest in Westminster on 11 March over pay levels.

The Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) yesterday announced the day of action as part of its ongoing campaign for better pay.

“Changing the government’s pay policy will require vigorous campaigning at a national level,” said a statement. “As part of this national campaigning we will be organising a lobby of the Westminster parliament to take place on Tuesday 11 March.”

The PCS is angry that workers in the Civil Service and related bodies have been subjected to job cuts, below-inflation pay rises and privatisation measures.
