Nurse recruitment could be drastically improved by proper rehabilitation for
those with injuries, the RCN has announced.
Its annual conference last month saw the launch of its
"Workability" programme for the recovery of nurses with back problems
or similar conditions.
Only a few dozen NHS trusts have comprehensive rehabilitation schemes.
"If treated properly nurses can often be back at work the same
day," said RCN’s occupational health adviser Carol Bannister.
"Fast-tracking treatment for nurses is an option the Government should
think about in addressing the shortage of nurses.
