Angela Masters has been appointed as new chair of the board at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the representative body for the UK’s private recruitment industry.
Masters replaces Gary Irvine, who has stepped down to focus on his own recruitment business. She has 21 years’ industry experience.
“My standpoint has always been to raise the profile of the industry and to have it recognised as a career choice with professional standards,” she said. “To this end, I have worked very hard both regionally and nationally to help achieve this over the years.”

The REC confirmed that it is still in the process of appointing a new chief executive, despite a lengthy recruitment process towards the end of last year. Acting CEO, Helen Reynolds, will assume the role of deputy CEO when the appointment is made.
“With such a high-profile position, we had to be absolutely sure we had the right person lined up for the job,” Masters said. “This search begins in earnest again this week, and I am very optimistic that we will find the ideal candidate.”
