Retail
staff can expect salary rises of about 2.9 per cent next year, according to the
latest research by Mercer HR Consulting.
The
2.9 per cent average rise for 2003 compares to increases of 3.1 per cent this
year and 3.4 per cent in 2001.
The
median base salary for chief executives in retail is now £230,000, although it
can vary from £165,000 to £455,00 depending on the size of the company.
The
figures are based on Mercer’s 2002 survey of pay, benefits and HR in retail,
which covered 18 major UK organisations.
