The world’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity has created a new director of HR role to increase its focus on employees.
The RSPCA has appointed Brian Millar, former head of HR at the society, as director or HR.
Millar, who joined the charity in 2004, said he hopes to drive a performance culture.
“I am delighted that, in this new role, I will be able to help build bridges between the national society and the branches and volunteers who are so integral in improving animal welfare locally,” he said.
Jackie Ballard, director general of the RSCPA, said the role signified the society’s focus and commitment to employees and volunteers.
Millar said it was important that staff were given adequate support.
“It is vitally important that employees enjoy work as much as possible and for that they require support and effective HR policies – especially considering the stressful and distressing issues that many of those who work for the RSPCA have to deal with,” he said.
