School leadership college to have new chief executive

A new chief executive has been appointed to the National College for School Leadership (NCSL).

Stephen Munby, director of education and lifelong learning at Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, will take up the post on 25 March 2005.

The NCSL provides professional and practical support for England’s existing and aspiring school leaders.

Its goal is to help to equip school leaders with the skills, knowledge and understanding to transform the school education system into the best in the world and ensure that every child is taught in a well-led school.

A survey released earlier this week revealed that a substantial number of the UK’s leading business figures showed leadership potential while still at school.

Of 105 chief executives and board level directors surveyed by polling firm Mori 90 per cent had held roles such as prefect, head boy or girl, or had captained a sports team.
