ScotRail
train drivers are to stage four one-day strikes in March in a dispute over pay,
according to Aslef.
Website
Ananova reports that the union says its members at ScotRail will walk out on
March 1, 6, 11 and 19.
The
strikes were called after Aslef members voted by 558 to 37 to take industrial
action.
According
to Ananova the union is demanding a ‘substantial’ pay rise and claims that
ScotRail drivers are among the lowest paid in the country.

ScotRail
has made a number of offers to Aslef that it says will raise the current basic
pay of £23,000 to £28,000 by April 2004.
The
company, which is believed to be facing losses of £25 million this year, has
warned that strikes would halt all ScotRail’s services.
