The HR
team at the Royal Shakespeare Company have organised a telephone advice service
to help staff deal with the restructuring of the organisation.
Every
employee can access the 24-hour free confidential advice line for career advice
from independent qualified counsellors.
Around
135 technical and administrative jobs will be lost as a result of restructuring
by the Royal Shakespeare Company. In Stratford, 50 of the 500 jobs will go as
well as 85 in London.
Rachael
Whitteridge, head of HR at RSC, said, “Redundancy is never easy or pleasant but
it is a process we have to go through”.
The
RSC is ending its permanent arrangement with the Barbican theatre and plans to
perform in a wider variety of venues. In Stratford a number of smaller
companies will open plays throughout the year replacing two distinct seasons.
Eighty-five
jobs will be lost in London in May 2002 and 50 in Stratford from October this
year.
