Greg Jones, the South Wales Police HR director cleared of rape and assault earlier this year, has left the force by “mutual agreement”.
Jones was cleared in January of raping a woman after a night out in Swansea. A jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty after a two-week trial.
He remained suspended from his job after the trial while police chiefs carried out a review of his employment conditions.
According to his union Unison, Jones was said to be “surprised and disappointed” that his job was being advertised and had harboured hopes of returning to work.

In a statement, the force said: “It is not South Wales Police’s policy to comment on staffing matters but we can confirm that, by mutual agreement, Mr Greg Jones has left the employment of South Wales Police.”
In April, the force advertised for a new £78,000-a-year HR director, with a police spokesman insisting that the job was “an entirely new post”.
