Spririt of Scrooge dampens office celebrations

Fewer bosses paid for an office Christmas party this year, according to The Institute of Management.

Only 37 per cent of the 158 firms surveyed paid for a festive do, compared with 44 per cent last year.

Almost eight out of 10 employers questioned said their firm did not pay workers a Christmas bonus.

However, six out of 10 managers did make a contribution to staff parties, as they believe it boosts morale.
