Office
staff are scared to ask for more flexible ways of working because they fear it
could damage their career, according to new CIPD research.
The
survey found two-thirds of professional and managerial employees want greater
flexibility in areas such as working from home, job-sharing and flexi-time.
However
eight out of 10 felt that asking for different working patterns could be the
death knell for promotion prospects or career progression.
The
poll of 400 marketing and HR staff claimed that a huge culture shift is
necessary if middle and senior managers are to take up flexible working
options.
