Statutory maternity pay for UK is among lowest in EU

The level of statutory maternity pay in the UK is among the lowest in the
European Union, according to research.

A study by Mercer Human Resource Consulting shows that a woman in the UK
earning £15,000 a year gains £2,458 after six months’ maternity leave – which
is below the EU average of £4,198. Those in Denmark gain £6,756, the highest
rate of maternity pay in the EU.
