Talks have started between the Transport and General Workers’
Union and the Scottish Executive Minister Wendy Alexander to discuss the threat
to jobs at Motorola.
The company has announced plans to axe 26,000 jobs worldwide
over the next two years.
T&G regional secretary Andy Baird told the STUC
conference in Aberdeen said, “We will be working together to save jobs and
protect the community that relies on those jobs.
“We call on Motorola to acknowledge the contribution the
workforce has made to their business, to show faith in them for the future and
to work with us for a positive outcome.”
