Teacher strikes close London schools

Two-thirds
of London’s schools are expected to be closed today, due to strike action by
teachers.

Tens
of thousands of teachers are expected to walk out over pay in the one-day
strike, which is the biggest London-wide industrial action over teachers’ pay
for 30 years.

The
National Union of Teachers, which held a one-day strike in the capital seven
months ago, is demanding a 100 per cent increase in London weighting to take
the allowance to £6,000.
