City
corporations and government departments could soon be warned of terrorist
attacks by text message.
According
to the Financial Times, London police chiefs have secretly contacted around
5,000 businesses in the City and dozens of Whitehall offices, asking them to
register for a pilot scheme which is due to start within days.

The
newspaper said that the businesses being approached are already linked to the
City of London Police’s e-alert and pager alert system.
