Sheffield Council starts groundbreaking scheme
Sheffield City Council, in partnership with Sheffield Business School, has embarked on a management development programme – the largest ever organised by a UK metropolitan district council. The first of 167 senior city council managers will embark on their tailor-made management education at the business school this month. The council set up the programme after it identified key skills all top operational managers should have to ensure services are effective.

£50,000 for job-related training for unemployed
Focus, the training and enterprise council for central London, has committed £50,000 to a referral programme that will allow 2000 unemployed individuals to undertake free job-related training.
