Two city firms have severed their
links with animal testing company Huntingdon Life Sciences after a campaign of
harassment by animal rights extremists.
Winterflood securities and Dresdner
Kleinwort Wasserstein who financially backed Huntingdon Life Sciences have been
the target of protests led by the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty group (Shac).
Brian Winterflood, head of
Winterflood securities, his wife and families of other directors have been
targeted by campaigners with abusive phone calls. The firm had sought help from the police, the Home Office and
stock market regulators to ensure the safety of its staff but was not satisfied
with the response.
