‘Court’ appearance drives safety message home
• Managers from the electricity industry became the jury in a courtroom drama last month. Using vote-logging handsets and software, delegates heard a dummy case involving the death of a young boy. Around 230 delegates from the Electricity Association companies attended the two-day health and safety management conference to share best practice ideas and focus on the role of leadership in managing safety issues. Real barristers, with actors as defendants and witnesses, re-enacted a true-to-life court case involving the death of a boy who had tampered with a sub-station.
