Travel industry demotivated by low pay and industrial unrest

The
travel industry could face a chronic shortage of staff and skills and a
demotivated workforce because of poor employee relations, new research claims.

A
poll of 200 travel agents, by global distribution systems supplier Amadeus,
shows low pay and industrial unrest has led to almost half of those polled – 44
per cent – to consider quitting the industry.

Many
of the remaining 56 per cent fear a long stint in the trade has left them
unemployable outside the industry.

The
survey shows the majority of the workforce are demotivated by low pay, a lack
of opportunities and job security.
