The
TUC has launched a campaign to make global firms more accountable for
work-related deaths.
The
union claims that around the world the number of people killed at work
outnumbers those killed in wars or by AIDS, and wants firms to be more
responsible.
The
International Labour Organisation estimates that more than two million
employees are killed each year across the globe, while around 300 die in
British workplaces.
Owen
Tudor, the TUC’s health and safety specialist, said the issue of Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) was relevant to both developed and developing
economies.
