The Wales
TUC and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) have signed a landmark agreement to
formally establish a working partnership.
First
Minister Rhodri Morgan and Wales TUC General Secretary David Jenkins will sign
a memorandum of Understanding entitled ‘Working together’.
The
document sets out the commitments, roles and responsibilities of the Wales TUC
and WAG, the anticipated benefits and a programme of Cabinet-level meetings.
The Wales
TUC and WAG have also jointly agreed five priorities

Economic
Development in Wales
–
Improved
levels of education and training
–
Modernisation
of public services
–
Promotion
of equal opportunities
–
Social
Partnership
David
Jenkins, General Secretary of the Wales TUC said: "This landmark agreement
is significant because it cements the relationship between the trade union
movement in Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government.

attention has recently been focussing on the differences between trade unions
and the Westminster Government. This agreement sets us on a different path in
Wales, one based on mutual respect, understanding and a determination to create
