More
than 50 per cent of companies have suffered financially as a result of recent
virus attacks on their IT systems, according to a new survey.
The
Institute of Directors surveyed 1,200 of its members and found that 57 per cent
said their business had been damaged, with half blaming employees’ misuse of
technology.
The
research showed that 75 per cent of companies had policies to prevent illegal
downloading of software, but two-thirds said employees were ignoring them.
A
fifth of respondents also said they had purchased more sophisticated anti-virus
software designed to deal with problems as they occur.
