Mr Justice Underhill, former president of the Employment Appeal Tribunal, has presented his recommendations for reforming employment tribunal procedures.
They include proposals for an initial “sift stage”, during which employment judges can review cases after the claim form and response have been received.
The recommendations follow the Government’s request for Underhill to carry out a review of current tribunal procedures with the intention of producing a streamlined procedural code, in response to concerns that procedures have become “increasingly complex and unwieldy”.
