A
Government-backed training initiative designed to get the unemployed back to
work by encouraging people to take up retail careers has placed nearly 50
people in new jobs.
The
Metropeople retail training school has helped 47 people find work since it was launched
four months ago by Jobcentre Plus.
The
school is based at the huge Metrocentre shopping complex in Gateshead and
provides retail employers with staff who are already trained to a high
standard.
The
courses cover a range of retail skills including customer service, CV writing,
self-presentation and interview skills.
There
is also a dedicated Jobcentre Plus office based at the Metrocentre which has
helped 2,000 people into work in the last two years.
