The
Transport and General Workers’ Union said it hopes to save the jobs of workers
at the ITV call centre in Wales.
The
T&G said there was hope for staff at the purpose-built Pembroke call
centre.
Danny
Fellows, T&G regional industrial organiser, said that the partnership of
the T&G, government, Welsh Assembly, local authorities and regional
agencies, was optimistic that facilities attract new companies.
He
said: "Here in Wales, we have a purpose-built facility, a quality
workforce and a strong partnership which is determined that out of today’s bad
news, good news will come. With more than 1,000 jobs in the balance, there is a
community spirit which says we will not let those jobs go."
"The
T&G wants to ensure that every option is explored with potential employers
so those jobs are not lost. Through marketing the facilities and ensuring
training and education are provided to maintain the skill levels of the
workforce, we have to be confident for the future."
