University
lecturers have voted to strike over pay later this month.
The
Association of University Teachers said its action was likely to be a mixture
of walkouts and disruption during the week beginning 23 February.
The
association said that lecturers’ pay had declined by 40 per cent in comparison
with the rest of the workforce.

The
action will coincide with the campaign of disruption planned by the National
Union of Students in protest at the introduction of top-up fees.
