A third of large companies have cut back on executive travel since 11
September and many are harnessing IT to perform overseas business, according to
research released last week.
Over a quarter of the 60 FTSE 500 companies surveyed by telecoms company ACT
are making more use of teleconferencing.
The survey shows that a quarter are using telephones more, a fifth e-mails,
and 18 per cent are increasing use of video or audio conferencing.

A separate poll by Wyboston Conference Centre reports videoconferencing is
up 40 per cent.
Nearly 60 per cent of firms have introduced extra safety precautions for
employees who have to travel.
