AIG Europe (UK) has launched the first Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) webcast, which enables insurance professionals to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points online.
The free webcast, Ten Reasons Why SMEs Need D&O, focuses on the key cover aspects of directors and officers’ (D&O) insurance, and the sales opportunities in small and medium-sized businesses.
“D&O training can be complex and we wanted to demystify it,” said Simon Housego, product development manager at developer AIG Europe (UK). “Most new business negotiations are face to face, so we give conversational explanations that people can listen to and adapt for their own sales situations.”
The webcast comes at a time when insurance industry standards in training and competency are under scrutiny from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as the industry regulator. It is welcomed by the CII, which said the webcast offers a “time-effective” way of achieving CPD.

“It’s a good model, particularly now the CII has endorsed it,” said Housego. “It saves print costs and it’s flexible so you can re-record sections to reflect changing legislation. And now you get CPD points as well, which has got to be good news with the FSA.”
