To succeed…
You will be an experienced, commercially aware, CIPD-qualified, strategic HR professional, with a proven track record in the sector or a high-profile organisation.
What is involved…
You will provide strategic support on business objectives to a specific client base. The role is very much about coaching line managers to make them and their people more effective, and more able to deliver on strategic objectives. Employers see the business partner role as a commercially focused business professional with an HR specialism.
Prospects are…
Excellent – by understanding the core commercial objectives of the business, this is a platform to move into more senior roles, but also gives you exposure to more generalist management and leadership roles.
Where do you fit in… The business partner usually reports into the HR director with a ‘dotted line’ report to the head of the business functions they support. There may also be some man management responsibility, normally for HR advisers, and in some cases HR assistants/administrators.
The current market is…
Very candidate-driven and, in many cases, employers will create opportunities for outstanding candidates, even if none were actually in existence.
