The
National Centre for Work Experience has been merged with the Careers Services
Unit.
The Council
for Industry and Education has merged the organisations to create a central
work experience resource for employers, university staff and students. It follws
the findings of a recent report that claims that graduate recruiters are as
concerned with transferable skills and work experience as they are with the
degree.
“Student
employability is at the heart of the higher education agenda and the provision
of work experience plays a major role. Graduate employers cite relevant work
experience as a key attribute when assessing potential graduate recruits. By
combining the CSU’s and the NCWE’s work experience employers needs will be
better placed to be met,” said Liz Rhodes, director of the NCWE.
