A gay Christian man who won his case for unlawful discrimination against the Church of England has been awarded more than £47,000 in compensation.
An employment tribunal ruled John Reaney was discriminated against on grounds of sexual orientation by the Hereford diocesan board of finance after his appointment as a youth worker was blocked.
Gay rights group Stonewall said the "substantial compensation" sent a clear message, while Reaney spoke of his joy over the case's conclusion.
"Lesbian and gay Christians working within the Church of England are entitled to be treated with humanity," he said.
