Contractors at Sellafield and other UK energy sites are to be balloted for industrial action over alleged “unfair treatment, discrimination and exploitation”, the Whitehaven News has reported.
According to the report, both GMB and Unite unions will hold a national strike ballot from 11 August to 1 September, with the aim of commencing industrial action soon after.
The recent Lindsay oil refinery dispute, which led to strike action over employment of foreign labour by Total at the Lincolnshire site, has been said to be the root of the problem.
Sellafield contractors will be balloted along with six other UK sites.
