British Airways’ (BA) cabin crew are expected to announce that they will strike today, when the results of a ballot on industrial action are revealed.
More than 12,000 workers have been voting on industrial action over the past two weeks in a dispute over pay, jobs and working conditions. The vote is likely to opt for industrial action after a former ballot which was deemed illegal was voted so overwhelmingly in favour of strikes.
The vote closes at 14:30 today and results should be revealed shortly afterwards. On Friday union Unite lost its battle to seek an injunction against the airline for introducing changes to pay and staffing levels, which it claims were not properly consulted with the unions.
The changes are designed to cut costs at the airline, which made a pre-tax loss of £50m in the three months to December 2009.

British Airways cabin crew have previously ruled out staging a strike over the busy Easter break.
The airline is due to begin retraining former cabin crew members, who were released by BA last year, in a bid to cover striking workers.
