City boss faces £4m sexual discrimination claim

A former employee is bringing legal proceedings against an investment firm owner for alleged sex discrimination, unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.

Jordan Wimmer is claiming £4m compensation from Mark Lowe, of City firm Nomos Capital, which has since gone into liquidation.

Wimmer says that Lowe repeatedly told sexist and inappropriate jokes over her five years with his company, calling female employees ‘Mark’s angels.’

She also claimed that he regularly invited escorts to work functions attended by female colleagues and clients.

Wimmer told the Central London Employment Tribunal that Lowe was often accompanied to meetings by a prostitute named Ling who wore high heeled shoes and revealing hot-pants, reports the Telegraph.

Wimmer claimed that Lowe’s treatment left her suffering from depression. She had to leave Nomos in February 2008, after receiving treatment at The Causeway Retreat, a stress-rehabilitation centre.

Wimmer told the tribunal: “I strongly believe that Mark thought he could exercise the control he wanted over me as a woman in his employment by making derogatory comments about me in public.”

Lowe denies all the accusations. The hearing continues.
