World of Learning Conference achieves CPD certification

by Personnel Today 28 Jul 2009
by Personnel Today 28 Jul 2009

Learning and development (L&D) professionals attending the World of Learning Conference 2009, the UK’s key conference for business learning, can now gain even more value from their visit as this now counts as a contributory activity within their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The World of Learning Conference has achieved CPD certification, having been independently assessed on its educational structure and value to ensure that it conforms to universally accepted CPD guidelines for skills and knowledge enhancement. L&D professionals attending the Conference will receive a Certificate of Attendance, and can also benefit from a ten per cent discount in addition to the early booking discounts on offer.

The CPD certification is just one of the benefits that the World of Learning Conference offers to delegates this year in order to make their visit as valuable and productive an experience as possible. The facility to submit specific questions related to their individual learning needs to the speakers prior to the event, not only ensures that delegates receive targeted and relevant advice and information, but also encourages them to review and focus on their own objectives before and during their attendance.

Additionally, the Conference offers free access to LM Matters’ compelling bite-sized learning management and leadership videos, 50 Lessons, and its online learning tools and templates, Harvard ManageMentor, from the time of booking until the event. This not only gives access to these learning resources for the whole organisation, but also provides a powerful resource for self-motivated L&D professionals looking to develop their skill-set. In addition, all delegates booking and attending the full two-day conference will receive a free Toshiba portable DVD player.

Ron Mackrell, Director at The Training Foundation, comments: “We applaud the fact that the World of Learning Conference is a CPD-certified event. Generally speaking there is an urgent need to professionalise learning and development. The Government is now proposing to license teachers on a five-year cycle, and this should make L&D practitioners think about the validity of their own credentials and their professional development practice. Given the pace of change we are seeing, every career-minded L&D practitioner needs to take their personal development very seriously and attending events like World of Learning reflects that realisation.”

The World of Learning 2009 will take place at the NEC, Birmingham on 30 September and 1 October.

The Conference is part of the World of Learning Exhibition, which hosts over 110 major learning suppliers across a wide range of disciplines and features a number of valuable interactive areas, including the Experiential Learning Zone and Serious Games Zone, to further aid the skills development of L&D professionals.
