The sub-title of this book is ‘How to maintain your integrity and further your career’, which may sound like an oxymoron to the more cynical among you. The authors take the standpoint that no-one can avoid office politics, and that we might as well prepare ourselves for dealing with it.

I liked this book – it’s brisk and no-nonsense, full of scenarios and case studies, accessible and well-written. Readers will find the ‘Action to take’ boxes particularly helpful, while scenarios such as ‘Home alone’, where your main political ally has resigned, will sound reassuringly familiar.
