Skills for Health announces new board members

Skills for Health, the sector skills councils for health, has revealed the members of its new board.


As well as an increase in senior employers with experience and knowledge of the health sector, the board membership also ensures a strong UK-wide focus through the involvement of the four health department HR directors.


Skills for Health covers the whole health sector â€“ NHS, independent and voluntary employers. It is funded through the four UK health departments and the Sector Skills Development Agency.


It aims to help the whole sector develop a skilled and flexible workforce in order to improve health and healthcare.


The full board comprises:


· Chris Hannah â€“ chair of Skills for Health and chief executive of Cheshire and Merseyside SHA


· Nic Greenfield â€“ DH deputy director of workforce and currently acting director-general of workforce


· David Bingham – HR director for the DH, Social Services and Public Safety, Northern Ireland


· Anne Coutts – HR director and organisational development, United Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust


· David Flory – chief executive of County Durham and Tees Valley & Northumberland and Tyne and Wear Strategic Health Authorities


· Julian Hartley – chief executive of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre Hospitals NHS Trust


· Paul Martin – chief nursing officer for Scotland and Interim Director of Workforce


· Jim McCaffery – HR director, Lothian Health Board


· William McKee – chief executive, Royal Group of Hospitals Health & Social Services Trust, Belfast


· Alison Platt – director of delivery, BUPA Hospitals


· John Rogers – chief executive, Skills for Health
