Workers at Peugeot have voted not to take strike action over the loss of 2,300 jobs at the car manufacturers’ Warwickshire plant. The Transport and General Workers’ Union announced the result today, just 90 minutes after the ballot closed at midday. The T&G said members voted by 516 to 440 against taking industrial action. General secretary Tony Woodley said the vote indicated that many workers wanted to take redundancy. But, Woodley said, the vote did not signal the end of the campaign. Unions have put forward plans for the plant to operate under a single-shift system.
