More than 8,000 nurses have lodged equal pay complaints as a result of the new NHS Agenda for Change pay system. Health service unions have joined together to set up a dedicated legal team to deal with the complaints, expected to eventually total more than 10,000. The Department of Health said last week that 96% of all staff have now been assimilated. The Royal College of Nursing said it hoped to use these cases to create a negotiated settlement, which nurses could then use to claim back pay from the government, reports Nursing Times.
