Bangor Business School has joined forces with The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS) to offer a unique new MBA qualification specifically for the banking industry – the Chartered Banker MBA (CBMBA).
This course provides the only qualification in the world which combines an MBA and Chartered Banker status – to offer the highest professional qualification available in the industry.

Customers, regulators and employers demand skilled banking professionals committed to high ethical, professional and technical standards to hep us build sustainable banking institutions. The Chartered Banker MBA is the gold-standard banking qualification for tomorrow’s leaders.”
Professor Colyn Gardner, CEO of Bangor Business School Management Centre adds, “As the global financial markets emerge from a period of unprecedented crisis, the need for a modern and relevant post-graduate degree that can help to re-professionalise banking has never been more essential. The Chartered Banker MBA is that degree.”
The CBMBA, which can be completed in two years with students remaining fully-employed throughout, will combine traditional MBA skills with the specialist risk management, credit, lending and regulation knowledge specific to banking. The programme will be offered in a ‘blended learning’ format combining on-line methods and face-to-face workshops delivered from Bangor Business School’s new London Centre in the heart of the city’s financial district.

There will clearly never be any replacement for hard experience, but if a banker wants to do an MBA then one that focuses on the critical elements of credit, risk and lending is obviously going to be far more relevant and useful than one that doesn’t.”
