MidlandHR wins five-year contract with the University of Essex

by Personnel Today 26 Nov 2010
by Personnel Today 26 Nov 2010

The University of Essex has signed a five-year iTrent software contract with MidlandHR, the largest independent HR, payroll and talent management and workforce planning solutions provider in the UK. Having previously used a number of disparate, paper-driven systems, iTrent will provide the University with a single solution for managing all the HR and payroll needs of its 3,000 permanent and temporary employees.

Donna O’Brien, project manager at University of Essex, explains: “iTrent provided the closest fit to our needs without requiring time consuming and expensive customisation. We hope it will enable strategic, focused learning and informed workforce decision making across the organisation and anticipate that the adoption of this single system will streamline our processes whilst enabling our HR and payroll teams to work seamlessly from a central system.

“We were impressed by MidlandHR’s thorough understanding of the education sector’s unique needs. The iTrent software will enable the University to implement efficient operating models and business processes, such as Manager and Employee Self-Service and automated HESA returns.”

Iain Moffat, managing director of MidlandHR, adds: “We are looking forward to helping the University of Essex take a completely fresh look at its HR and payroll processes. With the introduction of the iTrent technology, the University will be fully equipped for the future, operating best practice business processes with the ability to support its people strategy going forward.”

Moffat continues: “We currently support some of the largest and most successful universities in the UK and are proud to see this continue through our partnership with the University of Essex. iTrent is set to satisfy University of Essex’s business case for change with regards to the visibility of enhanced business information through a single system, flexibility to view and manage organisational structure, vital talent and performance management capabilities, comprehensive reporting and analytics as well as automated HESA returns and the ease of integration with existing University systems.”

iTrent Self-Service will provide information to managers and employees alike, allowing individuals to take charge of their own learning, payslips, expenses, holidays, personal data and more. At a managerial level, Self-Service will enable proactive people management through the visibility of workforce data, including absence monitoring and reporting.

With more than 10,000 students studying across three campuses, the University attracts students from more than 130 countries across the globe. The University of Essex is the latest addition to MidlandHR’s impressive list of clients within the Education sector including Universities of Cambridge, Plymouth, Loughborough, Reading, Coventry, Exeter and more.
