Former employees at failed distribution company Allen Munro Transport are to receive an estimated £100,000 in compensation because their union was not consulted about the redundancies. Commercial Motor magazine says employees who had completed at least five years service should get about £1,500. The Government is paying the compensation because the company did not have enough assets to cover it. The United Road Transport Union, which represents the workers, said 71 members at the sites in Lancashire and Glasgow are eligible for the payment.
