How long?
This is a two-year, part-time course, comprising one afternoon and evening of classes during the first two semesters, with the remaining electives taken in study blocks of one to three days.
Entry qualifications
Entrants will need to have either completed Field One of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Professional Qualification Scheme, or have a degree or equivalent qualification. Otherwise, applicants will need to provide evidence that they can operate at degree level and are capable of successfully completing a postgraduate programme.
Modules
The university’s postgraduate diploma incorporates the CIPD’s Professional Qualification Scheme. Field One includes the postgraduate certificate programme; Field Two is a core module in personnel and development, and Field Three includes four elective modules selected from options. These include employee resourcing, human resource planning, performance management and employment law, employee development, management development, managing learning processes, managing training operations, and employee involvement and communications. Participants are also required to complete a work-based management report in the last study year.

Career opportunities
The postgraduate diploma course will help candidates develop practical skills in management, assisting careers in human resource development, consulting or employment relations. The qualification also enables candidates to go on to a masters degree in Strategic Human Resource Management.
