A software company has launched product designed to automatically alert bosses about sexual harassment and discrimination, by analysing the content of e-mails, voice and instant messages.
The product by Aungate, a division of Autonomy Corporation, was developed following several high-profile cases in the financial industry.
The technology analyses instant messages, e-mails and voice communications in real-time, automatically routing offending material and alerting management to cases of potential and actual policy violations.
As the programme does not rely on keywords but forms a ‘conceptual understanding’ of all communications, it is able to understand the meaning and intent of language, detecting abusive content even if it appears in the form of slang or code.
