Personnel Today

Four in focus – Info and data websites

by Personnel Today 9 Sep 2003
by Personnel Today 9 Sep 2003

Making
a business case for e-HR is imperative, and there is a wealth of free
information on the internet that will help support your argument. Here is our
guide:

Concours
Group
www.concoursgroup.com
The US-based research consultancy posts excerpts of its work on its site, and
access is free. Go direct to: www.concoursgroup.com/publications.asp
to see what’s available. Boardroom Imperative, 10 questions boards should ask
about the business performance of IT, and HR imperative, are useful. The latter
features the conversations with gurus including Dave Ulrich and Peter Drucker.

IDC
www.idc.com
The global intelligence company’s ‘Documents at a Glance’ section alone might
give you enough valuable titbits from its Worldwide Human Resources Management
and Payroll Processing Applications Forecast and Analysis, 2003-2007. It claims
the HR and payroll applications market is expected to grow to $5.7bn by 2007,
compared with $4.3bn last year. Albert Pang, director of Enterprise
Applications Research at IDC, says systems will also be better synchronised
with other enterprise applications.

Gartner
www.gartner.com
This can be a little confusing due to the sheer weight of information
available. If you don’t have much time to surf, check out the press release
section, found by selecting the News menu at the top and then clicking ‘Press
release archive’, where you can scroll through recent releases. The research
company’s predictions for HR outsourcing at:
www3.gartner.com/5_about/press_releases/pr24june2003d.jsp are very useful. Did
you know, for instance, that HR is the most outsourced business process?

Watson
Wyatt
www.watsonwyatt.com
The global consultancy claims to be the first to prove a link between superior
human capital practices and shareholder value. Cut straight to a snapshot from
the findings of the 2002 European study at: www.watsonwyatt.com/research/resrender.asp?id=hci2002&page=1.
The search engine will guide you to more relevant info and you can download pdf
documents.
