Local
authority leaders are set to make a final pay offer to firefighters in an
effort to end the long-running industrial dispute.
According
to reports on website Ananova, the Fire Brigades Union said it might be
prepared to end its overtime ban and agree new shift patterns in return for a
significant pay rise.
It
is believed the union could also agree to recommendations made in the Bain
Review, a document it has labelled ‘irrelevant’.
Negotiations
between the union and employers, held at the conciliation service Acas, ended
last night.
